This site is about our experiments in creating a community around an old abandoned school. I will post pictures and updates on how we are doing, our failures and successes. Please read our pages and comment.
In early March the Lily Art Center held a banner workshop led by Keith Romaine. Each participant made several colorful banners and then everyone donated 2 of their banners to Greene and Berkey. We now have 30 banners to display at our events. The banners are a great beacon, like colorful greeters waving at people passing by.

We made a banner here, and every morning when I see it on the front porch, and in the evening when I return, i am reminded of the workshop, the other people who attended, Janis, Keith, the smell of melting ripstop nylon, the thrill of combining colors and seeing what happened next…but most of all I am reminded of community…the community that created the banners that day, the community that is represented and served by the banners that stayed behind, and the communities to which all the other banners traveled. Then, there are the other banners in my neighborhood…my community.
