Four Day Paving Marathon

We just completed a four day paving marathon.  We had Thor, Matt, our friend and board member Mike, and even Ruth came by to lend a hand.  We laid down 20 pallets of pavers, only 10 more pallets to go.

Lunch time on the back porch.  One day this will be a landscaped patio area and the loading dock will be a small balcony.  It is a great place to sit a view our hard work.

By the end of Sunday we had 10 cubes of pavers left to lay.  I couldn’t pick up one more block and we called it a day.  We are all very impressed with what we accomplished.  It was a great feeling!

Wow! What a difference. The pavers are beautiful and fit in so well with the rest of the building and landscaping. It looks a little bit more like nap time than break time, though!

Janis, tell me again what the cube is. I saw a word I know from my former jog - pallets. We use to get all of our summer reading, Books Aloud! and Science in the Summer supplies in on pallets. Let me know if you got this comment as I’ve never done this before.

that would be my former job not jog. I don’t know why I got the response saying awaiting moderation.

A cube is a geometric shape that is the same heigth, width and length. That’s my math lesson for the day. A cube of pavers is delivered on a pallet. We save the pallets and then the brick company comes and gets the pallets. Then we get money back for the pallets. Unfortunately someone swiped our pallets. Randy put on his private eye cap and after some detecting left a message at someone’s house, “If those pallets aren’t returned in 24 hours I am calling the police.” The pallets were back in 2 hours.
