Will the Plants Every Get Big?

August 2008 Looking West

August 2008 From Studio Window
Okay this is when incremental growth seems to be not fast enough. We have three dogwood, 3 kinds of viburnum, a variety of hydrangeas, lavender and mock orange. We are still waiting for “dirt to grow” and are thinking about what kind of ground cover we want. We know we don’t want grass and it is too sunny for pachysandra. Someday it will all be so lovely, I can’t wait!
The top picture was taken out my studio window. It is too hot out there now, if only those dogwood and the maple were a little bigger.
We are looking for park benches and a bike rack. To help fund our garden at the Lily Art Center we have created an online social business all the income generated from the site will be invested in projects like our neighborhood green spot. Visit our online store at www.cafepress.com/TheEdges

What about creating bike racks from re-used items? You guys are so good at finding new uses for old things…like buildings. I can image that there would be an old tiller or plow of sorts around Goshen somewhere, and that could be a bike rack. Is it okay to give ideas on blogs? My first blog comment was earlier this evening, and that was a joke of sorts.

It is certainly okay to leave ideas on blogs. I think that is what they are for, but I am not really sure. I think one of the reasons I started a blog was to connect/link what I am doing with what other people are doing. My ideas is that every neighborhood, every small little area of a community have a place that welcomes people, that makes people feel safe and at home, a place that feels alive. Then eventually there is a network of “little spots” linked all over the world.
